A Great Night for a Robot Fight

March 7, 2019 – Baltimore MD

InSource Solutions came together with over 50 local Baltimore companies at STAR Academy to support Power52 Foundation, an organization created by Baltimore Ravens legend and NFL Hall of Famer Ray Lewis. InSource’s own Ann Croom challenged CEOs and Lewis in a robotics competition to pop balloons on each other’s bots.

This fun event was conceived to bring awareness to STEM education programs, like those at STAR Academy, as well as the mission of Power52 Foundation. Power52 works to bring training to the people of Baltimore that will help them find and keep jobs that are sustainable and stable.

Speaking to local CBS affiliate WJZ Lewis said, “We have to be able to be flexible where people are given the opportunities to be sustainable in all these STEM programs. They’re sustainable, you can take it and use it the rest of your life.”

As Lewis competed head to head with the CEOs, he was determined to be triumphant: “I’m not going to lose in robots tonight,” he promised.

Although Croom did not ultimately win, she did make it to the second round of competition.

After the match Croom offered: “It was great fun for a great cause. STEM education is foremost on our minds since InSource and our manufacturing clients are constantly looking for fabulous technical talent…And next year, I’m going to practice. 😊”

InSource is proud to support organizations like Power52 and STAR Academy. Our mission to revitalize manufacturing in America starts with STEM education.
