InSource Welcomes Students for National Manufacturing Day

Davidson, NC—On October 14, 2016, students from the Community School of Davidson and South Lake Christian schools participated InSource’s 3rd Annual Manufacturing Day event in our Davidson, NC location.

The event kicked off with a warm welcome and a presentation of the state of manufacturing in America by InSource President Ann Croom. Kevin Modlin, Manager, Manufacturing Outreach & Sustainability Center, followed with a brief overview of the learning lab and a description of the Robot Challenge.

Teams compete by programming a robot to perform tasks to earn up to 200 points in the challenge. A second portion of the competition is a trivia challenge to win prizes in a drawing.

Three teams participated in the Robot Challenge, and their scores ranged from 188 to 198. The winning team was only two points ahead of the second place team. For the trivia challenge, all the students scored a perfect score, and were entered in the drawing. These scores reflect the high level of enthusiasm the students had for the event. Many students said the challenge was great and couldn’t wait to come back next year!
